Exactly one year ago today, Riverside Park in La Crosse, Wisconsin had begun experiencing a near record breaking flood due to excessive rain and snow melt from northern Wisconsin/Minnesota.
It was a cold and gloomy morning in the low 40's as I went for a photowalk to document the flooding (For reference, it is 57º today). The river had risen high, swallowing the sidewalk, benches, and eventually the grass in the park. I had already been keeping a log of the changes in trees and flowers in anticipation of spring blooms and eventually had quite a collection of photographs and wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do with them.
Today, on the one year anniversary of when I first began to realize this was a serious situation, I decided to create some comparison photos. The difference in life and vibrance of the trees and budding leaves is a major change.
Hope you enjoy!
